Longshots Go into Hiding as Elite Performances Highlight Week at ASD https://asdowns.com/longshots-go-into-hiding-as-elite-performances-highlight-week-at-asd/

After a week of monster payouts, the real longshots went into hiding, which made the chalk players happy, but there were three horses and one jockey who were about as far from hiding as you can get.

Guitars N Cadilaxs won the Winnipeg Futurity, Deputize took the Buffalo Stakes, and Mechanic Susie ran one of the fastest times of the meet to help jockey Antonio Whitehall score a quad.

She's bacckkk!

https://asdowns.com/huge-payouts-rule-for-second-week-in-a-row-at-asd/

If there was one thing that stood out this week at ASD it was the monster payouts for the second week in a row.

Last week, a single lucky bettor won the 20-cent ASD Jackpot Pick that paid $53,443.36. You would think that the pool would have taken some time to grow from last week to this week, but the pool exploded again, and on Wednesday night a punter made an even larger wheelbarrow score...

"The Downs history blog was “born” in 2012. This week’s story will be edition #286 and that’s a lot of history," writes ASD historian Bob Gates.

"Whatever I know about the racing game has come from the good people of the backstretch. So where am I going with this? I have learned from some of the best, and I’d like to introduce you to a few. I didn’t always realize it, but they are all sportswriters. Yes sir, all were newspaper guys. In no particular order, let me tell you a little bit about the writers who have been such a positive influence on the history blog."
