I was born in a small town in northern Portugal and immigrated to Canada with my family at the age of 5. That is a long story and we would need to sit down over a cup of coffee to tell it. e we saw some strange magical things that we had never seen before like fields of grass and trees. Growing up Portuguese in our new “Canadian” community also made for some very interesting stories but I grew to love St. James and what it offered (Sturgeon Creek crawling with Crayfish and wildlife). I now live in the very same house that my father moved us into all those years ago. In my teen years while working at the Portage Avenue Mohawk I met a very pretty young girl from Fort Frances Ontario, her name was Laurie and she worked at the Robin’s Donuts next door. What could be more perfect than that? A pretty girl and donuts. Laurie and I have been married for 34 years now, she is still very pretty but she no longer lets me eat donuts. We have two incredible daughters; Haley is the older and her little sister Emily. They are both grown adults now and out of the house living their own lives, so if anyone has good advice on raising adult daughters, please call! Over the years I have come to realize that the most enjoyable aspect of my career choice is the people I meet, people from all walks of life with great stories to tell of their own. I believe that more than the love of cars I very much enjoy working with people and listening to their stories. From young adults getting their first car to older clients upgrading to something new, there are always stories to be told. Try asking an older person what their first car was, I can guarantee that it will always lead to some fantastic tales. I believe that the way we treat people will make the difference between success and failure. I respect the people that I meet and I hope that they respect me. A wise man once said “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves”.
