The Diesel Alliance The Diesel Alliance is a place for diesel shop owners, manufacturers, and entrepreneurs to get together and discuss daily issues we all encounter.

Instead of talking bad about the shop down the road, lets work together to grow!

No matter what the situation is, as the shop manager, shop owner, or service writer, YOU CANNOT throw your team under the bus in front of a customer.

If a team member made a simple mistake, own it as the shop and deal with the employee in private.

You throw a team member under the bus one time, and the ENTIRE team will turn their back on you and most likely quit.

Integrity:

Doing the right thing when nobody is looking.

The weirdest thing in the world is a customer walking into a diesel shop and trying to barter with the estimate????

Do you walk into Walmart and try to barter with the cashier about the price of things?!?!?!

Why is a diesel shop any different?

When the customer starts telling you how you are going to do your job, it's over, instantly!

You can not work with that customer. They will never be happy, you will not change them. You are a diesel shop, not a psych ward. Get rid of them!

NEVER, vent about your customers to your employees.

This toxicity will bleed into the rest of your team and your customers will notice as the cancer spreads.

Your service is your marketing! Really amazing customer service will do more for your business than any marketing campaign ever will.

When your customers are raving about your customer service, their word of mouth is the best marketing you will ever experience!

What should a shop owner do when a customer is talking down to a woman working in the diesel industry?

10/08/2026

What does it mean to:

"Go above and beyond."

Make sure your entire team cares as much about the customer as you do, if there's one person in the shop that can say things like:

"Screw that dude, tell him to come get the truck."

When asked about a customer's vehicle, that cancer has to go. It will quickly bleed into the entire team and now you have a shop that's known for not taking care of customers.

Too many shops are just parts changers, what does that mean?

The scenario:

A truck comes in making a high-pitched whistling noise.

The shop checks it out and tells the customer the up-pipes are blown out, and they price out a new set of OEM up-pipes.

That shop did nothing for that customer, the failure will happen again and the customer doesn't feel any better about the truck.

What we encourage shops to do, is find a better solution to the problem.

MBRP makes really nice aftermarket up-pipes with much stronger expansion joints and solid stainless steel construction, give the customer a better option than they previously had!
