🧰 2019 GMC 2500 hard work cleaning down the truck.
Dirty oil damaged the original gm coating. Allowed a lot of rust to start. This is the result of nh oil. A cover over rust product.

Full grind down and coat w no mess dry to touch parrafin wax.
Lanolin products are most entirely made up of refined petroleum- aka oil. Almost no Lanolin. Will swell rubber bushings. Most applicators are painters only. No cleanup or rust mitigation. Do they sweat? Work hard?
Gm uses nox rust 121 and its entirety incompatible with products that are oil.

What's the worst undercoating? That depends on a lot. Franchises are pretty bad. They use what coatings they want and hope you stick with a name you used to trust.

It's tough to get the right information from them as well. For me the worst is asphalt. Bituminous coatings are cheap. You can buy the pails and drums at pretty much the lowest prices. No chain or large business is going to grind that rust down for a reasonable price so they just cover it.

Asphalt builds up a thick coating that does a good job hiding rust. Looks great at first but traps everything in. It's worse than rubber. This. Frame was made a lot worse by an asphalt coating. The prep work was poor. The asphalt bituminous created a lot of pitted heavy spots that could have been avoided. It was a very poor choice for this lexus frame.

Be informed. Watch out for fees and addons. What starts at $499 turns to $799 real quick. And warranty - watch tommy boy agaim. That warranty isnt worth a cow's rear end visit.

Have them show you a grown man grinding that rust for hours. Sweat and dirt. No way.

Covering over bad preparation with more goo. Stick to hard working people that want what's best for your truck. We find hybdrid wax is the best overall. It's firm and easy to work on without mess. It's not a solid. Solvent based, so it cleans well. Basically, I'm dipping a truck in parrafin wax. It's a great sealer. If rust finds a way to start up again then just spray it with a quick wax spray can. Why pay for that?

Shops hate me. Easy touch ups and no yearly full coatings. Won't wash off like wax. I don't make money on return yearly visits. I'm my own worst enemy lol. The only problem? I can only do a few at a wack. If you don't use me then at least do the research and make sure they sweat. Lol.
