Somewhere between crank windows and keyless entry, we lost a few simple things that were oddly... fun.

😂 Locking your sibling out by pushing the lock down just as they turned the key.

💪 Racing to see who could crank their window down the fastest.

🌴 Finding the perfect antenna topper so you could spot your car from across the parking lot.

Sure, today's cars are smarter, safer, and packed with incredible technology... but some of those little moments are hard to beat.

Think your smartphone is impressive? Check out the first car phone, introduced on June 17, 1946.

Here's what "mobile" looked like back then:

📦 Weighed 80 pounds and took up most of the trunk.
💰 Cost $15/month (plus 40¢ for every local call).
📡 Only 3 channels served the entire St. Louis metro area, so only a handful of people could use it at once.
☎️ Built by the Bell System in partnership with Motorola.

Fast forward to today, and your phone fits in your pocket, streams music, gives turn-by-turn directions, and lets you video call from just about anywhere.
