Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we begin planning for next school year, we are asking all families to complete the transportation registration form for their students.
The Transportation Form is electronic and will be sent directly to the Transportation Department once submitted.
➡️ All bus riders must complete this form:
Please include all students in your household, even if transportation needs are uncertain at this time. This form must also be updated for:
· Grade changes
· Building changes
· New students
All students must be registered through this link so we can accurately cross-check transportation needs and create routes and schedules for the upcoming school year.
Please remember that if your child is assigned to multiple buses or multiple pickup/drop-off locations, there is a greater chance for confusion. Clear and consistent communication from parents will be very important in these situations.
Our department transports over 600 students each day, and it is not possible for drivers or the transportation office to keep track of changing daily schedules for individual students without parent communication.
Drivers will begin making phone calls before the start of school to provide bus times and route information. Please be patient, as we want to provide the most accurate information possible. The earliest you should expect to receive those calls will be the week before school starts.
Students in Pre-K through 5th grade will receive a welcome packet from the Transportation Department at Back-to-School Night. This packet will include bus times, transportation information, and bus rules.
Students in 6th grade and above will receive a phone call or email from their driver with transportation information.
If your student uses a town stop in the opposite town, those bus times will be posted on the Mid-Prairie Transportation page on the Mid-Prairie website. Please check there for updated times and information.
Please note:
Town stops are intended only for students who attend school in the opposite town from where they live. For example:
· If you live in Wellman and attend school in Wellman, transportation will not be provided.
· The same applies for students living and attending school in Kalona.
We appreciate your cooperation and assistance in helping us provide safe and efficient transportation for all students.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Teresa Hartley
Transportation Director
Iowa school districts are required to provide transportation to elementary students who live more than two miles away from their school or secondary students who reside more than three miles from their school of attendance.
