🚗 TPMS Light Still On After Replacing All Four Sensors? Here's What We Found!
A customer recently brought their Lincoln to Casey's Point S Tire & Auto in Vancouver, WA, after having all four tire pressure monitoring (TPMS) sensors replaced at another repair shop.
The problem? The TPMS warning light was STILL ON! ⚠️
Instead of replacing more parts, our technicians went to work finding the actual cause.
Here's how we solved the problem using our 3 C's: Concern, Cause, and Correction.
🔴 1. THE CONCERN
The customer had already paid another shop to replace all four TPMS sensors, but the warning light never went away.
They wanted to know why the new sensors hadn't fixed the issue.
🔍 2. THE CAUSE
Our technicians used professional TPMS diagnostic equipment to test all four sensors.
The results? Every sensor was transmitting correctly!
That meant the new sensors weren't the problem.
We continued investigating the system and discovered something interesting.
During previous suspension repair work, an electrical connector associated with the TPMS system had been left disconnected.
The sensors were doing their job, but the vehicle wasn't properly receiving their information.
The actual problem wasn't failed sensors. It was an unplugged electrical connector!
🔧 3. THE CORRECTION
Once we identified the problem, our technicians:
✅ Reconnected the electrical connector
✅ Performed the TPMS relearn procedure
✅ Verified all four tire pressures
✅ Confirmed proper communication with the vehicle
✅ Cleared fault codes and verified the warning light was off
The result? The TPMS system was working correctly again, without replacing any additional parts! 🎯
💡 WHY THIS MATTERS
This repair is a perfect example of why proper diagnostics are so important.
A warning light doesn't automatically mean a particular part needs replacement.
Without proper testing, customers can end up paying for parts that don't solve their problem.
At Casey's Point S Tire & Auto, we believe in diagnosing first and replacing parts only when necessary.
Our goal is simple: Find the actual problem, explain it clearly, and fix it correctly.

Subaru P0021 Code: Diagnosing a Check Engine Light on a 2020 Crosstrek
When your Subaru Crosstrek's check engine light comes on, clearing the code doesn't fix the underlying problem. At Casey's Point S Tire & Auto in Vancouver, WA, we focus on finding the cause rather than simply turning off the warning light.
A customer recently brought in their 2020 Subaru Crosstrek with a recurring check engine light and diagnostic code P0021.
Here's how we approached the problem using the 3 C's: Concern, Cause, and Correction.
1. Concern: Check Engine Light With Code P0021
The customer reported a check engine light that returned after being cleared, along with a coolant warning light and poor cabin heater performance.
Our diagnostic scan revealed P0021 – Intake Camshaft Position Timing Over-Advanced (Bank 2).
This code indicates the engine computer detected a camshaft timing problem.
Symptoms may include rough idle, hesitation, reduced performance, and recurring warning lights.
2. Cause: Investigating Camshaft Timing
Subaru's Active Valve Control System (AVCS) uses engine oil pressure to adjust camshaft timing.
When oil deteriorates or becomes contaminated, it can interfere with this system.
Our diagnostic approach included:
Retrieving engine fault codes
Reviewing camshaft timing data
Evaluating variable valve timing operation
Inspecting engine oil condition
Investigating potential oil flow restrictions
Our findings pointed toward deteriorated engine oil as a possible contributor to P0021.
Oil sludge and contamination can restrict flow through small passages, interfering with proper camshaft timing adjustments.
3. Correction: Addressing the Oil Concern
Based on our findings, we recommended servicing the engine oil system before considering expensive component replacements.
The service included:
Engine oil and filter replacement using Subaru-specification oil
BG Engine Plus Service
Follow-up evaluation of engine operation
This approach addressed a potential oil-related cause while avoiding unnecessary parts replacement.
Why Proper Diagnostics Matter
Code P0021 doesn't automatically mean a camshaft sensor or timing component has failed.
Possible causes include contaminated oil, faulty oil control solenoids, electrical issues, or mechanical timing problems.
Replacing parts without proper testing can result in unnecessary repair costs.
Regular oil changes using the correct oil help protect Subaru's variable valve timing system.

Ever turn the key on a cold morning and watch your engine die the second you shift into drive? 🥶

If you drive a 2014 Jeep Cherokee, you're not alone. Cold-start stalls aren't just annoying—they're warning signs of multiple systems failing at once.

A Cherokee recently came through our shop with this exact problem. Our diagnostic scanner revealed it wasn't one problem—it was a cascade of connected failures: a faulty oil pressure sender, gasket failures, and a failing thermostat. We replaced all failing components and used fresh premium oil. Result? Reliable cold starts with no stalling.

Why this matters: every stall damages components. The longer you wait, the worse it gets. Your check engine light is trying to help—those diagnostic codes tell us exactly where to look.

Don't ignore cold-start patterns. Get professional diagnostic evaluation, not just a free scanner read.

Stuck wipers on high speed? That's not just annoying—it's dangerous. 🌧️

Your wiper system uses electrical signals for different speeds. When only high speed works, the lower speed circuits have failed. We diagnosed a customer's 2014 Toyota Corolla and found the wiper motor had failed internally—high speed bypasses certain components, but variable speed contacts were worn out.

We replaced the motor and restored full control.

Functional wipers are legally required safety equipment. Ignoring wiper problems means losing the ability to match wiper frequency to conditions—you either can't see in light rain or wear out blades in heavy weather.

Don't assume it's just the blades or fuse. Electrical problems rarely exist in isolation. Proper diagnosis matters.

Ever wonder why some cars keep running while others break down at the worst time? Your cooling system prevents engine damage, but leaks stay hidden until too late.

A recent Jeep Grand Cherokee owner requested a cooling system pressure test—revealing radiator and thermostat problems before failure. We discovered worn struts, failing CV axle, and degraded fluids.

Problems rarely travel alone.

We replaced the radiator, thermostat, and performed a complete coolant flush.
That initial pressure test opened the door to fixing problems before they became emergencies. Instead of multiple breakdowns and tow bills, this owner now has a reliable vehicle.

Regular maintenance keeps you safe and prevents costly repairs.

The question isn't whether your vehicle needs maintenance—it's whether you'll address it proactively or wait until something fails.

What maintenance item have you been putting off?

2020 Subaru Crosstrek Front-End Noise: Concern, Cause, and Correction
When your vehicle starts making unusual noises, it's important to understand what's causing them before they turn into bigger problems. At Casey's Point S Tire & Auto in Vancouver, WA, we recently helped a customer with a 2020 Subaru Crosstrek experiencing noises from the front end.
Here's how our team addressed the issue using our 3 C's approach: Concern, Cause, and Correction.
1. Concern: Front-End Noise While Driving
The customer brought their 2020 Subaru Crosstrek to our shop with concerns about noises coming from the front suspension.
Unusual front-end noises, including clunking, knocking, or rattling, can indicate worn or loose suspension components. These noises may become more noticeable when driving over bumps, making turns, or traveling on uneven roads.
Our first priority was to identify the source of the customer's concern through a thorough vehicle inspection.
2. Cause: Worn Suspension Control Arm Bushing
After inspecting the front suspension, our technicians identified a deteriorated control arm bushing as the cause of the noise.
Control arms are important suspension components that connect the wheel assemblies to the vehicle's structure. Their rubber bushings help absorb road vibrations and allow the suspension to move properly.
Over time, these bushings can wear out, crack, or deteriorate, allowing excessive movement that can create unwanted noises and affect vehicle handling.
During our Digital Vehicle Health and Reliability Inspection, our technicians also identified deteriorating cooling system expansion hoses that needed attention.
3. Correction: Control Arm Replacement and Cooling System Repairs
To resolve the customer's front-end noise concern, our technicians replaced the worn suspension control arm, restoring proper support and eliminating the excessive movement caused by the deteriorated bushing.
We also addressed the cooling system concerns by replacing the deteriorating expansion hoses and performing a coolant flush with fresh coolant meeting the vehicle's specifications.
Additional maintenance performed during the visit included:
Engine and cabin air filter replacement
CVT transmission service
All-wheel-drive (AWD) system service
By addressing both the original concern and the additional maintenance needs identified during the inspection, we helped improve the Crosstrek's safety, reliability, and long-term performance.
Experiencing Similar Noises? Let Casey's Point S Help.
If your Subaru Crosstrek or another vehicle is making unusual noises from the front end, our team at Casey's Point S Tire & Auto in Vancouver, Washington, can help identify the cause and recommend the appropriate repair.
Our approach is simple: Listen to your Concern, identify the Cause, and provide the right Correction.

Ever had multiple warning lights come on at once? 🚨 When your Silverado's Check Engine, ABS, ESC, and "Engine Power Off Soon" warnings activate together, it's usually ONE problem affecting multiple systems. Your truck is in limp mode—intentionally limiting power to prevent damage. At Casey's Point S Tire & Auto, we use advanced diagnostics to find the root cause, not just clear codes. Common culprits: throttle body issues, sensor failures, or electrical problems. Without ABS and ESC, your safety is compromised. Contact us at (360) 253-7111 for accurate diagnosis and repair.

Ever had your check engine light flash then stay on? 🚨 That flashing light means your engine detected a severe misfire that could destroy your catalytic converter. The real culprit? Often a failing ignition coil. We used diagnostic trouble codes and freeze frame data to find the faulty coil, replaced it, and the surge was gone. For older vehicles, preventive maintenance is insurance against expensive failures. Professional diagnosis uses diagnostic equipment to read fault codes and systematically test components to find the real culprit. Don't guess and waste money.
