DIY projects dont always go as planned. But if you stick with it, you can still get the job done.

Yesterday, a customer booked a couple hours to replace brakes and new wheel spacers on his Jeep. The first corner went great, all parts replaced in about 30min. The second corner was the beginning of the war.
The spacer nuts were not coming out, and all started to strip. We were able to provide a torch, extraction bits, and a big cheater bar to get all but one off.
To get the last one off, we provided cutting wheels and mini reciprocating saws to cut the spacer and nut away. We then provided threadchasers and a die set to clean up the damage to the studs.
After all of this, one of the brake caliper pins broke in the bracket. The customer spent time drilling it out, then decided a new bracket was best. A friend picked up the part from the local ORileys and delivered it to him.
This 2-3 hour job turned into a 10 hour job. Projects like this are why we decided our day rental rate cap is after 6 hours ($40 an hour or $240 for a full day hour the hoist).
It's still not ideal, but it's helpful to have a daily cap when stressful situations come up.
This is what the youtube videos dont show. But the customer had a great attitude, persevered, and got the job done! He said he's going to keep the chopped up spacer as a trophy.

DIY auto projects dont always go as planned. Here at Hoist House, we can at least offer a nice space, plenty of tools/equipment, and an ear to talk things through. This is a place for real car enthusiasts with real projects.
