Happy Throwback Thursday!

The evolution of the tire started back in 3500BC, where the first wheels were made completely out of stone.

These first tires would wear slowly but unevenly, causing replacements to be needed constantly since there was no way to repair the stone.

Wooden spokes on a wooden frame with leather bands wrapped around were once one of the earliest forms used.

With the invention and popularization of trains, all-metal tires were invented.

Those traveling by wagon used a wooden frame wheel with a metal band wrapped around the outside. This allowed for some repairs to be made.

Charles Goodyear invented the process of vulcanized rubber in 1839. Once the process was refined, vulcanized rubber became the top choice for car tires.
