Squealing on first start — Surface rust burning off. Normal. If it goes away after a few stops, you're fine. If it doesn't, come in.

Squealing every time you brake — That's the wear indicator. Your pads are getting low. Don't wait much longer.

Grinding — Metal on metal. Pads are gone. Come in now before your rotors are involved and the bill doubles.

Pulling to one side — Usually a stuck caliper. Affects your ability to stop in an emergency.

Pulsing pedal — Warped rotors. The pedal pulses because the rotor surface isn't even anymore.

Soft or spongy pedal — This one's urgent. Could be air in the lines or low fluid. Affects stopping power.

Did you know your tires are quietly costing you money at the pump?

Tires naturally lose about 1 PSI of pressure per month — and most drivers have no idea it's happening until their TPMS light comes on. By then they're already losing fuel efficiency.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, for every 1 PSI drop in average tire pressure, your gas mileage decreases by about 0.2% — and you can improve your fuel economy by up to 3% just by keeping your tires properly inflated.

That adds up fast over a year of driving in Snohomish County.

The fix takes two minutes and a $5 gauge. Check your door jamb sticker for the correct PSI — not the number stamped on the tire sidewall, that's the maximum, not the target.

Summer in the Pacific Northwest is beautiful. It's also harder on your car than you think.

Most people associate car trouble with winter — dead batteries, icy roads, cold starts. But summer has its own list, and in Western Washington it sneaks up on you because our summers feel mild compared to the rest of the country.

They're not mild to your car.

Here's what we actually see come through our shop every summer:

🔴 Overheating cooling systems — Coolant that was "fine" in February starts struggling when temperatures climb and you're sitting in ferry traffic or idling on Highway 2.

🔴 Cracked and glazed belts — Heat accelerates the breakdown of rubber. Serpentine belts that looked okay in the spring can fail fast once summer hits — and they never fail at a convenient time.

🔴 Weak batteries — Everyone blames winter for battery failure, but heat is actually harder on batteries than cold. A battery running on borrowed time won't make it to fall.

🔴 AC systems that gave up — You don't know your AC isn't working until the first hot day. By then, every shop in town has a waitlist.

We need to talk about Subarus.
