Well... alrighty then! 😅 When a G56 clutch decides it's had enough, it doesn't just wear out, it can come apart in spectacular fashion. And unfortunately, that usually means the repair bill grows in a hurry.

This one was definitely an interesting job.

The customer had completely worn out the rear leaf springs. Normally, on a pickup, it's a straightforward job unbolt the springs and slide the bolts out. Not this truck.

Because of the utility bed, there wasn't enough clearance. One side of the spring bolt hit the frame, while the other side hit the inside of the service body. The only way to replace the springs correctly was to remove the entire bed.

Thankfully, our 16,000-lb lift made it look easy. Even with the service body loaded down with equipment, we were able to safely lift the entire bed, complete the repair, and get everything back together the right way.

We love working on fleet vehicles, service trucks, and medium-duty trucks all the way up to Ford F-550s.
