Little A/C work on this 2018 Silverado today! 🥶

Around here, we don't just slap some Freon in it and say, “Yep, she's cold!” 😂

Especially with R-1234yf. That stuff is way too expensive to be donating it to the atmosphere because nobody bothered to find the leak.

This Silverado came in with an A/C issue, and after inspection and nitrogen pressure testing, we tracked the problem down to a leaking expansion block.

Nitrogen testing allows us to pressurize the system and actually hunt down leaks BEFORE we waste expensive refrigerant filling a system that's just going to leak it right back out.

Find the leak. Fix the problem. THEN charge the system.

Same thing goes for the rest of the vehicle.

🔧 Testing matters.
🔧 Inspections matter.
🔧 Diagnostics matter.

Loading up the parts cannon and firing until the problem goes away ain't diagnostics.

And we'll say this one a little louder for the folks in the back...

Even the small cars get the Phase 2 Automotive treatment!

This clean little Mazda Miata is in the shop for a full inspection and diagnostic evaluation. You don't see many of these on the road anymore, making this one a cool project to have in the shop.

The complaint? A hot start/hot stall issue that's only showing up once the engine reaches operating temperature.

Stay tuned as we dig into the data, perform the testing, and track down the root cause. We don't guess we diagnose.

How much metal is acceptable in your fuel system?

None.

If your truck is setting fuel rail pressure codes and there's metal in the system, a DCR conversion alone isn't the fix.

Once metal enters the high-pressure fuel system, it begins damaging injectors. Over time they can stick, clog, or develop a poor spray pattern that can wash down a cylinder, destroy a piston, and turn a fuel system repair into a full engine replacement.

The pump may have failed first, but the contamination is now the problem.

Fix the entire fuel system, not just the pump or you'll likely be paying for the same failure twice.
