We will be getting stuff done in the mornings when its cool but we will not be taking bikes in until the following week.

Sorry if that puts a wrench in your plans "pun intended" but dead bike techs don't do good work anyway.

Customer rolls in with a leaking transmission…
We crack it open and find THIS 👇
An expansion plug…

Yep. A rubber expansion plug… jammed into the transmission drain hole.

Why?
Because the original drain plug was cross-threaded and the case is cracked. instead of fixing it the right way… someone chose the lazy way out.

Let’s be clear —
That’s not a repair.
That’s a temporary bandaid that has NO business leaving a shop.

That plug relies on rubber and pressure…
Not threads. Not integrity. Not craftsmanship.

💥 It can leak
💥 It can loosen
💥 It can blow out and cost the customer a transmission

This is exactly the kind of work that gives the industry a bad name.

Here’s how we do it at High Desert Performance:

✔️ Replace the case (not shortcuts)
✔️ Return it to a serviceable, reliable setup
