Going to start rebuilding old reliable cars. Going to make them mechanically sound before sale. I wont care about cosmetics. Just good old fashioned reliability.

This is the part people conveniently ignore when they flex new trucks with monster payments.

• Owning a paid-off vehicle gives you optionality, not perfection
• Repairs feel painful because they’re visible, but they’re finite
• Monthly payments feel normal because they’re hidden inside autopay
• $1,000 a month for 84 months is not “reliable,” it’s a lifestyle tax

A $1,600 repair hurts once.
A $1,000 payment hurts every single month for seven years.

And here’s the real punchline:

The guy with no car payment can absorb a surprise bill.

The guy with the payment is already maxed out pretending everything is fine.
