Pothole season is here, and it’s taking a toll on Michigan roads and drivers alike.

Service Director Ryan Seidler was on CBS Detroit sharing what to watch for after a hard hit, including damage that isn’t always obvious right away.

A few quick tips to keep in mind this season:

🛞 As you approach a pothole, avoid slamming on your brakes as this can increase the force of impact and cause more damage
🚙 Just because the car still drives fine doesn’t mean there’s no damage
🧭 Watch for pulling, vibrations or uneven tire wear after a hard hit
🔧 Get it checked sooner rather than later to help avoid bigger repairs
📸 If there’s visible damage, document it right away

Stuck in deep snow or trying to get up a slick hill? Try briefly turning OFF your traction control. In snowy or icy conditions, traction control can reduce power when your tires start to slip — which can make it harder to keep momentum.

Turning it off for a moment can help you rock free or climb a slippery incline. Just be sure to turn it back ON once you’re moving again.
