Let’s discuss carbon deposits on valves and IMO why it’s important to properly service a head when doing a top end rebuild. Let’s face it many people run pump gas ⛽️ and it’s packed with garbage additives that leave nasty residues behind. That black stuff on that shop rag is the goo that I removed from these intake valves. That goo 1- adds weight to the valve and can effect the ability of the valve springs to control the valves at high rpm. 2- it also acts as a sponge 🧽 and absorbs the fuel which also robs power. 3- that build up on the valve also effects the flow of the fuel and air into the combustion chamber which also robs power. So the whole point of doing a top end is to create better piston and ring seal to increase power BUT if you ignore the valve train components IMO you left power on the table

Now just imagine what these parts look like in your daily driver after you have put 100k miles on it and wonder why it’s down on power and doesn’t get the fuel mileage it did when it was new.
