It was a special day here at the Rescue yesterday. A couple of weeks ago my friend Bill had stopped by with a young man named Jesse. Jesse was on the hunt for his first car and had mentioned VWs during our conversation but indicated that he was open to other options. Nice young man and a nice visit, but I didn't get the sense that anything would come of it. Yesterday Bill reached out to me and shared that Jesse was hot to purchase a 71 Midget available nearby. He was curious if I knew anything about it, which of course I did 😆. He also wanted to know if it would be okay for him to bring Jesse and his father by my place before they made a decision on the Midget. The three of them arrived a couple hours later and I gave them a look at all the cars that I thought might work for them. After a bit of discussion we narrowed it down to three MGBs, a 64, a 70, and a 71. For the type of project that Jesse was looking for, the 71 best fit the bill. I gave them my best price. They thanked me for my time and said they would get back to me that evening.
I went back to work and about 30 minutes later Bill's car pulls back into the yard. Apparently I had missed his text that they were on their way back with cash. They will be picking up the car on Thursday and the first stages of her refurbishment will begin only a few minutes away.
I'm always thrilled when a young person takes interest in these cars and I look forward to advising and lending a hand with this 71 MGB.
Thanks for your interest and support. 👍🛠☮️
