White Smoke?

Seeing thick white smoke coming from your tailpipe isn’t something to ignore—especially if it continues after the engine warms up.

In this case, that smoke was a big warning sign of a blown head gasket. When the head gasket fails, coolant can make its way into the combustion chamber, where it gets burned and exits through the exhaust as white smoke. 💨

Other signs to watch for include:
🔧 Low coolant with no obvious external leak
🌡️ Overheating
🫧 Bubbles in the coolant reservoir
🛢️ Milky or contaminated engine oil
💨 Persistent white exhaust smoke
⚠️ Rough running or misfires

Continuing to drive with a head gasket failure can turn a repair into a much bigger engine problem.

When Your Engine Wants to Leave the Truck

Customer: “It makes a weird noise when I accelerate.”

Us: “Let’s see what it’s doing.”

The Chevy: “HOLD MY BEER.”

That engine isn’t supposed to be doing a full-body workout every time you hit the gas!

Turns out the engine mount had other plans. When a mount breaks, the engine can move WAY more than it should—just like you’ll see in this video.

If your engine is jumping around like it’s trying to escape the truck, that’s probably not normal.

EcoDiesel intake manifold: “Help!” 😳😂

This is what happens when carbon buildup is allowed to accumulate over time. Those intake runners are supposed to help move air into the engine—not become storage compartments for soot!

When an intake gets this restricted, the engine has to work harder to breathe, which can contribute to poor performance, reduced efficiency, and drivability issues.

This is why proper diagnostics matter. Sometimes the problem isn’t what the computer says—it’s what you find when you actually take things apart. 🔧👀

I love a good sparkle, but not during a routine oil change.

When changing the oil, we noticed metallic shavings suspended in the drained oil. Those tiny flakes are a sign that internal engine components are wearing and shedding metal into the lubrication system.

Metal in the oil can indicate issues such as:
🔧 Bearing failure
🔧 Camshaft or lifter wear
🔧 Timing component damage
🔧 Piston or cylinder wear
🔧 Oil pump failure

The good news? Finding it during an oil change gives us the opportunity to investigate before it becomes a catastrophic engine failure.

This is one of the many reasons routine oil changes are so important. They’re not just about replacing old oil—they’re an opportunity to inspect what’s happening inside your engine and catch problems early.

If your vehicle has unusual engine noise, a low oil pressure warning, or you’re overdue for service, don’t wait until a small problem turns into an engine replacement.
