A client recently visited our shop with his 2002 Ford 7.3 Powerstroke, which had suddenly stopped running and refused to restart. Despite being told by two other shops that he needed new injectors, we advised him to allow us to conduct a thorough diagnosis before performing any repairs. Our diagnosis revealed a faulty lift pump, which was obviously a recent replacement. (Prior to his ownership) Installing a new lift pump resolved the issue, but we recommended inspecting the fuel tank for any restrictions. These pictures are what we found. The client had already purchased injectors months prior, and he asked us to install them along with new cups and glow plugs. This experience highlights the importance of conducting a thorough diagnosis before performing repairs, rather than relying on throwing parts at it.
