Tire Tread Depth — Why It Matters
Tread depth matters more than most people realize. 🌧️🚗
As your tire tread gets lower, your vehicle has a harder time moving water away from the road. That means wet traction can drop, stopping distance can increase, and hydroplaning risk goes up.
Quick guide:
✅ 10/32”–8/32” — Excellent / near-new
✅ 7/32”–5/32” — Good usable tread
⚠️ 4/32” — Wet traction begins declining
⚠️ 3/32” — Near replacement
🚨 2/32” — Legally worn out
Don’t wait until your tires are completely worn out. By 4/32”, wet-weather performance has already started dropping.
