Problem solving….some bikes need a bit of that when they are not running quite like they should. Multiple attempts had been taken to get the bike right and failed. This is where a bit of experience can be an immense help and a manual can be useless. The problem child? A 2012 MV Agusta F4 1000. The bike would start but only idled on a couple of cylinders. Once above 2k, it would run fine. The solution? We found that a throttle body synchronization spring was missing, causing two butterflies on the throttle bodies to shut down completely, not allowing for a nice, smooth idle. We replaced the spring and the bike ran beautifully. With a few additional repairs and a battery, this bike is now ready to be enjoyed again.

BMW K1200LT. The flagship bike for BMW for a decade. And also a bike that none of the BMW dealers want to work on due to its age. Due to this, we have become intimately familiar into the inner workings of this bike, from regular maintenance, to getting one running after sitting an extended time Here’s a very nice 2005 LT in a rarer gold color that I made road ready for my customer, who has also begrudgingly decided to sell it. (I will be listing the bike this coming weekend on Facebook marketplace.)

I cannot thank followers and previous customers enough for referrals. The owner of this 2003 Honda VTX1800S was sent to me by his brother, who had previously brought me a Yamaha Road Star to get going. The VTX had been sitting an extended period and the original plan was just to get the bike running so that it could be sold. After completing those repairs, I delivered the bike back to the customer, who promptly rode it and found that it was not as roadworthy as it needed to be to sell. He called me back up and we decided that the machine would sell much better if all items were addressed to make it rideable and safe. Now that he has the motorcycle back in his possession, he’s rethinking selling it. He forgot just how much fun it was!

It takes a great bit of knowledge to be able to repair a bike correctly and to charge fairly for that knowledge. I am hoping that you feel that I offer that here at Autto Vintage Cycleworks. This customer was referred from a good friend of mine due to those principles. Here is the 5000 mile 2004 Triumph America he brought me to get running correctly and make safe to ride daily. It needed a carburetor service, brake fluid flush, oil and filter change and new tires. Let’s just say that the previous hands that touched this bike could have benefitted from more knowledge and experience. Now, my customer gets to enjoy the bike without any of the previous issues.

Here we have a 2015 Royal Enfield Continental GT we just finished. Picked the bike up east of Allen. The owner bought it new in 2015 and had put about 2500 miles on it when the rear master cylinder failed. Since the local dealer for this brand would not service it, Autto Vintage Cycleworks came to the rescue. While in our possession, we serviced the bike, flushed all fluids, cleaned the airbox and filter (dirt dobber nest) and changed tires due to age. Lastly, ordered a master cylinder from India (which arrived quite timely) and got the rear brakes operating again. Delivered the bike back to the owner this evening, ready to ride. Buying a new motorcycle is exciting, but sometimes life gets in the way of enjoying the new ride….this is what happened to the owner of this beautiful 2010 Triumph Bonneville T100. It came to me with 559 miles on it and had sat close to 10 years. The entire fuel system had to be overhauled, all fluids had to be flushed and tires had to be changed due to age. It is now ready for enjoyment again by its owner, after an extended test drive by me to make sure all systems were a go…..

For all of you who follow RRS Cycle, we are excited to announce that, starting July 1st, RRS Cycle is becoming AuttoCycle. The focus for AuttoCycle will be older European motorbikes, such as BMW airheads and K-bikes, 1990's and newer Triumph, vintage Moto Guzzi, Rotax-powered Aprilias and many others.
