Not every scratch can be removed with machine polishing, but surface-level scratches, scuffs, and paint transfer can often be significantly improved or completely removed.
Here’s a real example on this Honda Pilot. After checking the paint depth, I machine polished the affected areas and was able to get a major improvement.
Deeper scratches that catch your fingernail, areas where paint is missing, or deep key marks typically require paint/body repair rather than polishing.
Knowing the difference helps set realistic expectations before scheduling scratch removal or paint correction.
