Why don’t mice get doors like this anymore?

Apparently the economy got them too. Even Mickey looked at the cost of ownership and said, “Screw the house. I’m staying in the wall.”

Funny, but car ownership isn’t much different.
We keep shopping for the car payment instead of calculating the cost of owning the car.

Payment. Insurance. Fuel. Tires. Maintenance. Repairs. Depreciation. The bank saying “approved” doesn’t mean your wallet said “affordable.”

Sometimes the smartest upgrade isn’t a bigger car. It’s a smaller financial doorway.

Because if your car owns more of your paycheck than you own of the car…

There is a moment in car ownership nobody warns you about. It is not the purchase. Not the repair bill. Not even the day something expensive decides to retire without giving two weeks’ notice.

It is the moment the facts in front of you no longer match the story you have been telling yourself. That is where things get interesting. Because sometimes the costliest thing parked in the garage isn’t the vehicle.

It’s our refusal to reconsider what we were so damn certain about. This article isn’t really about cars. Cars just happened to provide the crime scene.

Read it and then ask yourself one uncomfortable question: When the facts change, do you change with them... or hire yourself as the defense attorney?
