Perry has always been the kind of town that makes you feel something. Downtown made that impossible to miss.
Splashed across a building on the edge of downtown, a hand-painted mural bursts with flowers, a monarch butterfly, and four words that say it all: "Where Georgia Comes Together." It's not just a slogan on a city sign. It's painted large enough to mean it.
And then there are the doors.
Storefront after storefront in Historic Downtown Perry has been covered in colorful Post-it notes, left by neighbors, visitors, and local youth for the business owners who show up every day. Ashley Marie's Boutique. The office at 925. The red door at 813. The notes say things like:
π "You are amazing!!"
π "Your Business Rocks!"
π "We Love You"
π "Thank you for coming to Perry!"
Some carry words of encouragement. Some carry words of faith. All of them carry the same message: this community sees you, appreciates you, and is rooting for you.
And it didn't stop at storefronts. Someone even left a note on the glass front of Ashley's Little Free Library outside City Hall, a community book exchange built on the simple idea that neighbors take care of neighbors. A Post-it on a Little Free Library might be the most Perry thing we've ever seen.
It's just a short drive and our guests get to walk around Historic Downtown Perry. This is just one of the reasons we love telling people we're at I-75, Exit 136.
Come see it for yourself.
