Soapbox moment.

We have been assisting a client whose vehicle was involved in a total loss on their 2025 KIA Soul that was not their fault. Unfortunately for them it has turned into a catastrophe of loose ends.

1. A relative (grown child was driving the vehicle) and making the payments. This person still had their parents address listed on their drivers license but was not listed as a driver on the policy. Their insurance company denied the claim.

2. The at fault person had state minimum insurance, $25k. Which is less than the total owed. This is where uninsured/underinsured motorist usually comes in….but refer back to number 1.

Now the at fault insurance will pay out the $25k in property damage to the lien holder leaving the owner responsible for the difference owed on the car and towing and storage fees.

TAKE AWAYS:

🚨If you have state minimum coverage you are leaving yourself open to liability left on the table in which you can be sued for. $25k was not enough to pay for a 1-year old KIA Soul.

🚨If someone lives in your house or has access to your car make sure they are listed on the policy.

🚨Uninsured motorist is optional but if you have a new car it should be no question and make sure it is enough to cover the value of your vehicle! (We impound cars everyday for no insurance)

🚨If your car is financed, look into gap coverage.

🚨If you are making payments make sure you have full coverage!

🚨 Training to Serve You Better 🚨

Today, the team at Road Runner Towing of Perry participated in Traffic Incident Management (TIM) training to sharpen our skills and improve on-scene safety.

A huge thank you to the Georgia Department of Transportation and the Perry Fire Department for hosting and leading such an important class. Working together with our local first responders ensures that when accidents happen, we can clear scenes quickly, safely, and efficiently for everyone involved.
