For Austin L., this wasn't just a motorcycle giveaway—it was a reminder that hope can find you even during life's hardest moments.
Austin was announced as the winner of Ken Roczen's 2026 RM-Z450 Suzuki dirt bike through the Kickstart For A Cause sweepstakes, hosted by Propeller in support of the Love Moto Stop Cancer campaign benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Austin, the father of 22-month-old Jett, who is currently battling cancer, entered the sweepstakes while at Cleveland Clinic. A lifelong dirt bike rider since the age of five, he donated $100 knowing how much campaigns like this can mean to families facing challenges like his own.
While in Cincinnati, where Jett was receiving treatment, Austin was watching the race when he got the call that he had won.
"I couldn't believe it," Austin said. "I'm still speechless."
Recently, Austin, Jett, and Austin's father, Rich, visited State 8 Motorcycles in Peninsula, Ohio, to take delivery of the championship RM-Z450. The visit came full circle as Rich shared that he had purchased Austin's high school graduation dirt bike from State 8 back in 2013, making the moment even more meaningful.
"It just hits the core of the powersports industry," said State 8 owner Kirk Compton. "To be part of something like this is phenomenal." Compton said he was "beside himself" seeing the impact the giveaway had on Austin and his family.
