BMW to pay $18 million fine to resolve inflated sales probe
Porsche has done this practice as well for years. Never believe Porsche's reported sales figures. At the end of every month our Porsche rep would call to force us to report fictitious deliveries to inflate monthly sales numbers. As a dealer you had no choice because if you did not report false deliveries you would loose future allocation. Unfortunately this started the warranty clock ticking for the future buyer of the falsely punched car.
The SEC said from 2015 to 2019, the German automaker inflated reported U.S. retail sales, which helped it close the gap between actual retail sales volume and internal targets.
