Massive pipe wrench practical use case No. 37: supporting a frame rail of a ’32 chassis while pinching the frame to fit a Model A body.

A few years back we got the ball rolling on Jason Scudellari’s AV8 roadster project. He needed someone with a frame table and some experience in the subject matter so we were happy to help.
The build was done in partnership with Brookville Roadster and Speedway Motors. All photos from this post are from the original tech article you can read in Modern Rodding magazine.
1. Step one was to stand the Brookville roadster body on its nose and make a complete plywood template.
2. Then we could lay the deuce rails on to and see what changes needed to be made.
3. With the rails secured to our chassis table, the boys got to work heating and manipulating the steel.
4. The massive pipe wrench served as leverage for Brandon Gerringer to keep the frame rail from twisting while Jake Caballero heated the key areas with a torch.
5. Many hours later, all the necessary alterations were made to both side of the frame and secured to the chassis table.
6. The next step was to start burning in the boxing plates from Speedway Motors
7. We also had to modify the kick up in the rear of the chassis to fit the body.
8. After fitting the front and center crossmembers from Speedway Motors, the chassis was ready to go back to Jason at hbhotrodshop to complete the build.
