Troopers are working a 2-vehicle injury crash on northbound I-435 near 87th Street. The left & center lanes are closed.

Please drive cautiously as you make your way past the scene.

This is the 4th year since being our colonels has Colonel Smith & Lieutenant Colonel Lehnherr made a point to discuss important matters of the agency with each troop across the state. Along with the colonels, majors also attended to speak on plans they’ve been developing for our agency to continue in a positive growth.

Uniformed and professional staff members appreciate the open discussion of our agency given by our command staff.

A lieutenant in the MCSAP (Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program) Unit observed a significant wobble on the rear axle, outside, dual tire of a semi-trailer and initiated a traffic stop to conduct an inspection. As the lieutenant was walking alongside the trailer, he saw 8 of the 10 wheel fastener studs had been sheared off.

Had this driver continued on his trip, this could have been very dangerous, for himself and those around.

The Kansas Highway Patrol provides opportunities for State Troopers and Motor Carrier Inspectors to be certified to inspect commercial vehicles and drivers to decrease potential fatalities, injuries, and property damage.

Trooper Hawk (pictured center) graduated with class 75 and is stationed in Johnson/Wyandotte County. He is currently in field training with Troopers McGlothlin & Eddings.
