2004 Kubota B3030 Tractor in upper Ojai -- What to when the factory steel hydraulic lines are no longer available, as in discontinued. When they have proprietary ends on one side. What you do is have the hydraulic shop cut the ends off the steel lines and braze them onto new fittings and crimped onto new rubber lines.

This one had the steering cylinder hoses leaking, those were available from Kubota, luckily. To get them removed, the steering collumn has to be removed. To remove the steering collum, the steel supply lines need to be removed. To remove the steel lines, the diesel tank has to be removed, to remove the deisel tank.... well, you get the picture. This particular model of B3030 with the roll over protection system, had those steel lines. The version that has a full cab, it lucky enough to have rubber lines instead. Same pump, same steering collumn, different line types. Why and for what reason they put steel lines there, I can only inagine. Ended up having to break the steel lines in the interest of time and cost of labor vs cost of new hoses.

Good news is, the next time theres an issue inside that collumn, it will be much easier to remove now that there is flexibility in the lines.

2009 Toyota Camry 2.4l in Oxnard -- This one got jumpstarted backwards. Got the fuse box disassembled to gain access to the bolts that holds the main fuse link in. Replaced with OEM Toyota fuse link, that got it cranking. Also blew out the throttle body fuse, and the ignition coil fuse as well. Got those mini fuses changed out, she starts and runs again.

2011 Landrover LR2 3.5l in Ojai -- This one had blown coolant hoses after an overheat episode, as well as a crumbling thermostat that had failed. Turns out the fan module had also failed, possibly the root cause of all the mayhem. These landrovers are notorious for their weak cooling systems.

Got the new fan module installed today, the intake manifold and AC compressor need to be removed to gain access. Works as it should now.

1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue 3.8l in Ventura -- This customer had replaced the starter already but then it still wouldn't start.. had been trying for a while to get it going, including checking relays and fuses and under dash wiring. Came out and found the main cable from the battery to the starter hadnt been hooked up, and was damaged. It was in a tight space and could only be seen with a mirror, or if the vehicle was lifted on jack stands and the skirt removed. Anyhow, got the cable repaired and installed and it fired right up.

2018 Audi A3 2.0l in Ojai -- This one had been loosing fuel economy, another shop had recommended spark plugs. We changed the spark plugs with OE NGK's, and also installed a new OE MANN engine air filter and cabin air filter as well. Both filters were fairly dirty and impacted in the pleats.

This customer had been told he needed a new battery as his was only showing 400 cold cranking amps, when we tested it it showed 1000.. hmmm, that battery is fine. Also was told he needed new shocks which is not a cheap ordeal on this car, shocks werent leaking and road test felt great.

As a due diligence effort to make sure the fuel economy wasnt related to carbon buildup in the intake system, we removed the intake air temperature sensor from the intake manifold and ran the boroscope camera into the hole to inspect for carbon buildup, as is a common occurrence on these dirrect injection engines, luckily it looked very clean inside.

2015 Chrysler T&C 3.6l in Oak View -- P0520 Engine oil pressure sensor code showed up, diagnosed a failed sensor that sits under the intake manifold, was able to sneek the old one out and new one in without removing the manifold. Big success! The old one was reading 699kpa with the engine off, new one reads 0kpa and responds in unison with the RPM when revving the engine.

2002 Ford Explorer 4.0l in Ojai -- We did valve cover gaskets on this one the other day, got a call about a fuel smell today, came back and found a ripped injector O-ring. We had it running for about 20 minutes the other day with no leaks, crazy. Anyhow, got the o-rings changed out and made sure it wasnt leaking, again. We are all human, its how you make it right that counts. Feeling blessed to have such awesome customers.

1993 Ford F150 4.9l in Ojai -- This one is getting resurrected. Got it running again with a new engine computer and fuel pressure regulator last time. Now its getting a new cooling system, and a flush, it was full of rust water. Today it got a new radiator, water pump, fan clutch and hoses. The thermostat housing had corrosion damage, and one of the mounting ears was broken. New one will arrive in a few days. The replacement water pump had a not so perfectly pre bent heater pipe attached to it, so we had to heat it up with the torch and bend it a bit more to the correct position as to allow for proper mounting. We did pressure test the cooling system before disassembly and boroscoped the cylinders to make sure everything was worth doing before hand, these Ford 300 inline 6 cylinders are known for having sensitive heads and middle head gasket area.
