1913 – Ford revolutionizes automobile manufacturing
On October 7, 1913, Ford Motor Company began using a continuously moving assembly line for Model T chassis at its Highland Park, Michigan plant. The Model T eventually went from taking roughly 12½ hours to assemble to around 93 minutes, helping transform the automobile from a luxury item into mass transportation.
