Hi-Tech at Automotive Logistics & Supply Chain Global 2026.

This year, Bo Opanasyuk, Chief Operating Officer, and Paul Tsupin, VP Business Development, represented Hi-Tech at in Plymouth, Michigan, where Hi-Tech SAS participated as a Silver Partner.

This year’s conversations focused on supply chain efficiency, technology, vehicle logistics, quality, and stronger partnerships across the automotive industry.

Hi-Tech SAS also supported a roundtable focused on the challenges facing finished vehicle logistics, including vehicle quality, damage and repair, dwell times, costs, and supply chain disruption.

These topics are directly connected to our work with automotive manufacturers. We support them with vehicle repair, diagnostics, and high-volume inventory recovery, helping reduce delays and keep vehicles moving through the supply chain.

It was a great opportunity to strengthen relationships and stay close to the changing needs of our automotive partners.

Recently, our Hi-Tech PDR team had the opportunity to support a special vehicle restoration project through the NABC Recycled Rides® program.

Our team donated our paintless dent repair services to repair hail damage and help prepare the vehicle for its next chapter.

NABC Recycled Rides® brings together companies across the collision repair industry to restore and provide reliable vehicles to people in need. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute our skills and be part of an effort that can make a meaningful difference in someone’s everyday life.

Soon, this vehicle will help someone get to work, care for family, make important appointments, and move forward with more independence. We are proud to have played a small part in preparing it for what comes next.

Sometimes, repairing a vehicle is not just about bringing a car back. It is about helping someone move forward.

Why PDR Capacity Takes Years to Build

PDR can be taught in weeks. Developing a technician who can consistently deliver high-quality work at production speed takes much longer.

Industry training sources commonly place professional-level consistency on a timeline of roughly 1–2 years, while advanced work such as hail damage repair can take 2–3 years to develop. That is an important distinction: completing training and becoming a dependable production technician are not the same thing.

Technical competency is the foundation of PDR capacity. A skilled technician must be able to read damage correctly, choose the right repair approach, maintain quality, and repeat that result vehicle after vehicle.

But individual skill alone does not create scalable capacity.

During a major hail event, that expertise has to be connected to demand. Collision centers, insurers, OEMs, dealerships, fleets, and other automotive partners may all need PDR support at different times and in different locations.

This is where the PDR organization becomes essential. It connects industry demand with technical capability — through relationships, deployment, workflow, operating processes, quality standards, and quality control.

The technician brings the expertise. The organization makes sure that expertise is in the right place, at the right time, working within a system that allows it to perform consistently at scale.

That combination is what turns individual skill into real PDR capacity.

And neither part is built overnight.

Our team is currently leading a major dealer project in Chicago’s south suburbs.

Approximately 14 Hi-Tech PDR team members are working on-site to complete repairs on nearly 350 vehicles within a one-week timeframe.

This project reflects the speed, coordination, and scalable support required to keep dealership operations moving during a high-volume repair project.

Why PDR Matters More as the U.S. Vehicle Fleet Ages

The U.S. vehicle fleet is getting older. The average age reached 12.8 years in 2025, and CCC Intelligent Solutions expects it may reach 13 years in 2026. This is more than just a statistic. It is changing how repair decisions are made.

As vehicles age, their market value usually falls. That leaves less room between the cost of a repair and the total-loss threshold. CCC reports that 45.3% of claims involving vehicles 13 years old or older were identified as total losses. The question is no longer only, “Can this vehicle be repaired?” It is also, “Can it be repaired at a cost that still makes sense?”

Hail damage makes this question especially important. A vehicle may still be safe, drivable, and mechanically sound, while dents across several panels create a repair estimate that is difficult to justify on an older vehicle.

This is where Paintless Dent Repair can make a real difference. When the metal and original paint can be preserved, PDR can reduce the need for repainting and panel replacement, helping control the total repair cost while keeping more of the original vehicle intact.

Welcoming a New Team Member! Please join us in welcoming Jonathan Lee Noel to Hi-Tech PDR as our Southeast Hub Manager for the ATL Market.

Jonathan steps into the Regional Hub Manager role with 12 years of experience as a licensed auto appraiser and project manager. Throughout his career, he has handled CAT weather events with a strong focus on hail, along with total losses, supplements, and high-volume estimating. Last season, he led production at two of the highest-grossing collision centers in the Southeast.

In his new role, Jonathan will educate shops on managing hail claims from start to finish, work closely with insurance carriers, and make sure our technicians maintain the highest level of quality control across the region.

Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys camping, playing music, mountain biking, content creation, and cooking.
