Did you know your coolant level changes depending on engine temperature?
When your engine is hot, coolant expands. That means the level will read higher than it actually is.
Here’s the right way to check it:
• Let the car cool down for a few minutes
• Check the reservoir when the engine is cold
• Make sure the level sits within the safe range
If it looks good when cold and still within range when warm, you’re good.
Opening a hot radiator cap can be dangerous and checking it too soon can give you the wrong reading.
