I know it’s not Saturday, but wanted to share this little blip about Saturday mornings.
It was definately something I grew up doing.
Eating Captain Crunch or Frosted Flakes and watching all the great cartoons!

Did you enjoy this tradition?

Saturday mornings used to have their own specific ritual in Ohio living rooms, and it had almost nothing to do with what was actually on the schedule that day. 📺

Before cable brought a dedicated channel for cartoons any hour you wanted them, kids across the state would get up early, pour a bowl of whatever sugary cereal survived the week, and plant themselves in front of the TV for a lineup that depended entirely on which local UHF station your antenna could actually pull in. Reception mattered as much as programming, and plenty of households had a very specific spot on the couch or a very specific angle for the antenna that made all the difference.

It's a ritual that quietly disappeared once cable and eventually streaming took over, but it's the kind of oddly specific memory that instantly puts a lot of Ohio kids of a certain generation right back on that same living room floor. 🥣

What was your Saturday morning cereal-and-cartoon lineup, and do you remember which station you had to fight the antenna for?

No fancy lift. No spotless floor.

Just a jack, a couple stands, some cardboard, and enough determination to crawl underneath and get the job done.

A lot of us learned to work on cars exactly like this.
