When you see the final price for a repair, it’s natural to ask: “Why does it cost that much?”

Todays Automobiles are much more complex than the vehicles we grew up with and worked on.

Modern vehicles aren’t just machines — they’re rolling computers.

The average new car has 5,000-8,000 Feet of electrical wiring running through it connecting each system enabling them to "Talk" to each other.
(For comparison the average vehicle built in the 1990's likely only had around 1,500 feet of wiring)

Is topping off my gas tank really bad?

The pump clicks off, and it’s tempting to round up the total.
Overfilling can push raw fuel into the v***r recovery system and charcoal canister, parts designed for v***r, not liquid. That shortens their life and can lead to poor fuel economy and a check-engine light.

What to do: when it clicks off, stop. Tighten the gas cap until it clicks.

Why it matters: a one-dollar “top off” can turn into a few-hundred-dollar repair you never needed.
