As America celebrates her 250th birthday, we wanted to share something a little more personal. These words aren't from Gary and DaLynn, but from their four children.
For the first time in many years, we've had the privilege of celebrating the Fourth of July with our parents. Usually, they're organizing events, and pouring countless hours into preserving the traditions and patriotism they love so deeply. While we're grateful for the joy they've brought to so many families over the years, we'd be lying if we said we haven't missed them. Long before we understood history books or government, our parents taught us what it meant to be Americans. They taught us that freedom is a gift purchased through sacrifice. A day to remember where we came from, to give thanks for those who came before us, and to recommit ourselves to preserving the freedoms that have been placed in our care.
When we see the American flag waving, we see generations of sacrifice woven into every star and stripe.
