Don't let this be you. The water pump was not replaced as part of preventative maintenance and failed, resulting in a complete loss of coolant, then subsequently driven until it got hot enough to melt plastics both inside and outside of the engine. Your Porsche water pump should be replaced every 4-6 years or 48-69k miles, whichever comes first.

It bears repeating that bore scoring is indeed a thing and we're seeing more examples of it every week. If you own a Macan, Panamera, or Cayenne, or any engine that has an Alusil engine block, there are steps you can take to help prevent bore scoring. Although this article was originally intended for Porsche sports car models, many of the recommendations still apply.

If your cylinders aren't clean, how can you measure the surface finish properly? We developed a process to remove folded and torn material from the honing process which is carried out after honing to ensure that when we check surface finishes, that they are actually correct. Even more important, if you can measure the "dirt", what do you think your piston rings are going to have to say about it?

LN Engineering recently hosted almost thirty Olivet Nazarene University Engineering students, giving them the opportunity to learn how from our talented team about our operations and everything that goes into developing, testing, and manufacturing automotive components for Porsche vehicles.

We were also invited to participate in their Engineering career fair, where we got to interact with students as we look to build a work-study program with ONU to provide an environment where they can gain valuable real world experience.

Let us tell you, we were super impressed, and are all looking forward to this opportunity!
