Located less than 45 minutes north of Southern Raceway, Blackwater Speedway will kick things off Friday, Sept. 4, with a big night of racing featuring all of the divisions that will compete at Southern Raceway during the Barney Barnhill Memorial Race & Fireworks Show on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 5-6.

And we’re giving racers a little extra incentive to make a weekend out of it! 💰

Any driver who wins their division Friday night at Blackwater and then wins that same division’s feature at Southern Raceway on Saturday or Sunday will earn a $250 BONUS! 🏆

The Stock Car Smackdown Enduro Series is back at Southern Raceway on Sunday, Sept. 6, with another 50-lap, $1,000-to-win Enduro as part of the Barney Barnhill Memorial Race & Fireworks Show! 💰🔥

🚨𝗗𝗥𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥 𝗥𝗘𝗚𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗦 𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗡! Early registration is just $50 and runs through 10 AM Friday, Sept. 4. All drivers who pre-register by the deadline will draw for their starting spots ahead of all late entries.

Registration increases to $75 after 10 AM on Sept. 4, and drivers who register after the deadline or at the track on race day will start behind all pre-registered drivers.

The Stock Car Smackdown Series is an Enduro series at Southern Raceway with each race paying at least $1,000 to win. The series is designed for:
• Enduro-style stock cars
• Bomber division cars
• Crown Vics
• Old-rules Stinger division cars

• All cars must meet minimum safety standards, including a four-point roll cage
• All cars will go through pre-race tech and must pass safety inspection

This Labor Day weekend Southern Raceway will honor one of its founders with a huge two-day celebration of racing, remembrance, and family fun during the inaugural Barney Barnhill Memorial Race & Fireworks Show on Saturday, Sept. 5 and Sunday, Sept. 6.

Barney Barnhill led the team that built Southern Raceway and opened the track on Labor Day weekend in 1988. He went on to promote the track throughout the 1990s, helping Southern Raceway become an integral part of the local community while earning a reputation as one of the premier dirt tracks in the Southeast.

Now, 38 years later, we will use Labor Day weekend to celebrate the man whose vision and hard work created a place where generations of racers, fans, and families have gathered to share their love of dirt track racing.

The special weekend will feature some of the biggest racing of the year with the Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Crate Racin' USA Dirt Late Model Series racing for $10,000 and extra money for local divisions. Plus a Fireworks Show during Sunday’s program!

We will also use the occasion to establish the Southern Raceway Hall of Fame and induct Barney as its first member. In recognition of his place in the track’s history, he will be the Hall of Fame’s first and only inductee during its inaugural year. A Hall of Fame committee will be established to select inductees for future classes.

The Labor Day Weekend event will be more than just a race. It will be a celebration of Barney’s legacy and the lasting impact he made on Southern Raceway. Read below for more details!

After five straight days of rain last week, the new clay at Southern Raceway wasn’t where we wanted it Saturday night. So Dirt Daddy and the crew went to work on the surface Sunday, and this morning we brought the BRUNT Workwear 10 car to the track for a little testing.

We tried some different things with the surface, made laps, watched how it responded and came away with some ideas we think will help us make it better.

Our goal is simple: give our racers a racetrack they enjoy racing on and our fans the kind of racing they want to come watch.

We know we won't get it perfect every time, especially while we're learning a brand-new surface and dealing with the curveballs Mother Nature throws at us. But when it's not where we want it, we're going to put in the work to figure out why and make it better. 💪 🏁
