So I tuned the 143 ci S&S crate motor on 87 and 93 octane gasoline. It made more power on 87 octane. Not much but just enough to quantify on a chassis dyno IMO . I think I have the cable driven throttle hog throttle body operational. I went for a couple test rides today and I think the idle RPM is livable. I still have a few more things I want to try . This thing is a rocket ship. I forgot what it was like to ride a non faring bike with no full face helmet . Shout out to Harley at 77 Cycles . The smooth criminal transmission with the 6 up baker N shift drum is just that ……smooth

I’ve spent about 14 hrs in 3 days trying to find the sweet spot at all engine temperatures for a perfect idle with this S&S cable driven 70 mm throttle hog, throttle body on a crate 143 . Man I wish HPI would have had their 70 mm cable T/B and a manifold for B3 heads available when this project started. Big swings on IAC positions. It’s pretty bad when I am wishing it was Dive By Wire 🫤

The first order of business on a build should always be “who’s going to tune it” plan , budget accordingly for the most important part of any build. When this build was in the planning stages, (seems so long ago) ,I promised to come out of retirement to tune it .with Dynojet offering financing to just about anyone with a heartbeat nowadays, choose wisely. I have been burned so many times recommending tuners since I quit tuning customers bikes , I just don’t feel comfortable recommending anyone anymore. I got the TSSM married to the new ECM (f**k TTS) and put a powervision starter map of mine in . She’s fat and ready to be tuned .
