🧗 Discover Trash Can Rock 🌲
Hidden in the forests of Marquette County, Trash Can Rock is one of the U.P.’s newest climbing destinations. Developed in partnership with the Upper Peninsula Climbers Coalition (UPCC) and Raging River Resort, this crag features 40 feet of bullet-hard quartzite with an incredibly short approach.
🥾 Getting there:
Hike or bike directly from Raging River Lodge—no permission required! It’s a fun adventure even before you reach the rock.
📍 GPS: 46.50335, -87.45871
🚗 Driving directions:
• From Marquette, head west on CR 480 for 2.9 miles.
• Turn right at the Marquette County Solid Waste Management entrance.
• Continue 1.7 miles past the dump (on your left). The road becomes dirt.
• Stay straight at the first fork.
• Pass the open red gate.
• At approximately 1.7 miles, turn left at the telephone pole.
• Cross the small stream—the crag will be about 0.1 mile on your left.
🅿️ Parking is available near the power line, or space for 1–2 vehicles is available at the crag. Please do not block the road.
⚠️ Everyone is welcome, but climbing is recommended for experienced climbers with the proper equipment and knowledge.
