The BMW N20 and N26 2.0-liter engines have issues with the timing chain. The chain stretches and can skip a tooth. The plastic timing chain guides can also disintegrate, clogging the oil supply to the oil pump, leading to oil pressure loss, which can damage the cam bearings and VANOS. Once the guides disintegrate completely, the chain can skip, leading to severe consequences, such as valve-to-cylinder collisions. If you’re lucky, the engine can be restored by just replacing the chain. We highly recommend replacing the timing chain kit along with the chain tensioners and the oil pump chain for all cars with these engines if this work has never been done before. This includes replacing all gaskets, including valve cover, oil pan, and others. Do this once, and you won’t have to worry about it again. Let us know if you need assistance with that!Thank you! #bmw #n20 #n26 #328i #428i #528i #mechanic #bmwrepair #bmwmechanic #timingchain #bmwmechanic #losangeles #california
Oil filter housing and oil cooler gaskets are the most common leak, it’s a mandatory to replace those at 100k miles. Oil leaks damage everything around, if you want to keep your car in perfect shape make sure you replace that. This is would save you a lot of money $$$
