This is gonna look great in our city. Cant wait to see them completed!
You may have noticed new over-the-street banner poles recently installed along Bellevue Street and South Main Street in downtown Leslie.
These poles were funded through the Leslie Downtown Development Authority (DDA), which operates separately from the Cityβs general resident tax dollars. DDA funding comes from tax increment financing within the downtown district itself, meaning funds generated from growth and investment within the DDA district are reinvested directly back into downtown improvements, events, beautification, and business support.
Our DDA Board is made up of local small business owners and residents within the district who volunteer their time to help keep downtown Leslie active, welcoming, and vibrant. In addition to projects like these banner poles, the DDA also helps support collaboration between business owners and assists with planning community events and downtown initiatives.
While we know there are larger infrastructure needs throughout the community, projects like this are funded through a separate downtown-focused program specifically intended for economic development and placemaking within the district.
Weβre excited to see these banners go up and bring back a little bit of that old-school Leslie charm. Who remembers the Leslie banner that used to stretch between the trees back in the day?
