🚗 Think you need a new turbo? Maybe not.
This 2018 Chevrolet Malibu with the 1.5L turbo came to us with an underboost code, and the customer was concerned the turbocharger had failed.
Instead of guessing or replacing expensive parts, we started with a proper diagnosis.
The culprit? A missing clamp on the air charge pipe. That small missing clamp created a boost leak, causing the engine to set an underboost code. Once the leak was repaired, the turbo system could build boost properly again.
This is a perfect example of why accurate diagnostics matter. Spending money on the right diagnosis first can save hundreds, or even thousands, by avoiding unnecessary repairs and getting to the root cause the first time.
