Life of a Campground Owner – Day 27 🚿🔧

Today we’re back in Cabin 1 tackling another one of those behind-the-scenes jobs that helps keep everything running smoothly—preventative maintenance on our tankless water heater!

Twice a year, we flush our tankless units by hooking up a pump and circulating vinegar through the system to help remove scale and mineral buildup and keep them operating properly.

And a big shoutout to Nate for helping me tackle this one! Nate is a huge part of keeping Oak Hammock Resort looking great and running smoothly, and we appreciate having someone on the team who’s always willing to jump in and help get the job done. 👏

It may not be the most exciting part of owning a campground, but preventative maintenance like this is important. Our goal is to take care of the little things before they become big things—and make sure our guests have plenty of hot water and a great stay. 🚿🙌

Life of a Campground Owner – Day 26 🏡🔍

Today we’re inside Cabin 1 doing one of the things our guests may never see—but that makes a big difference in their stay.

Every month, we go through our cabins and do a full kitchen inventory and maintenance inspection. We make sure the pots, pans, dishes, glasses, utensils, and other essentials are stocked and ready to go. We also look for anything that needs a little extra attention or maintenance so we can take care of it before our guests arrive.

And a big shoutout to Allie, who’s in Cabin 1 today making sure that kitchen inventory is on point! 🙌

It’s all about staying ahead of the little things and making sure when you walk through the door, your cabin is ready for you to relax and enjoy your vacation.

Life of a Campground Owner – Day 25 🏓🏕️

Today I’m hanging out by our outdoor ping-pong table and thinking about one question: What should we add next at Oak Hammock Resort?

We already have outdoor ping-pong and horseshoes up on the hill, but there’s always room for more fun. I’m thinking maybe a disc golf course down the main drive could be next! 🥏⛳

But instead of us deciding, we want to hear from you! If you were staying at Oak Hammock Resort, what amenity would you love to see?

Disc golf? Co****le? Pickleball? Playground? Something completely different?

Life of a Campground Owner – Day 24 ❄️🛠️

Today’s pre-arrival inspection at Cabin 4 turned into an unexpected A/C replacement!

While getting the cabin ready for our next guests, we noticed the A/C had no power. We found a tripped breaker, reset it, and the fan started blowing… but as soon as the compressor tried to kick on—breaker tripped again. 😬

After a little troubleshooting, we checked to see if we were dealing with a bad capacitor. Nope. Turns out the compressor motor was locked up, and this A/C had officially reached the end of the road.

So out with the old! We pulled the unit, cleaned everything up around the opening, installed a brand-new A/C, and now Cabin 4 is back to being nice and icy cold. 🥶🙌

That’s exactly why we do our pre-arrival inspections. We’d much rather find the problem before our guests arrive than have it become their problem during their vacation.

Just another day in the Life of a Campground Owner and another little thing we can do to make sure our guests have a great stay.

Life of a Campground Owner – Day 23 📡🏕️

The Wi-Fi project continues… and we’re getting close!

Today we installed a new network switch in the game room that will help power all of the new access points we’re installing throughout Oak Hammock Resort.

We’re putting an access point in every cabin, adding coverage throughout the RV sites, and boosting the signal in our camp store and office. 📶

And better connectivity opened the door for another big upgrade—security cameras! We’ve now added cameras inside and outside the camp store, which means we’re one step closer to completely revamping the store and opening it up around our self-checkout kiosk. 🛒

It’s amazing how one project leads to another when you own a campground. 😂
