What happens when different polyureas are exposed to extreme cold? ❄️
We used dry ice to cool three different polyurea samples, including FlexArmor, to demonstrate how their flexibility changes as temperatures drop.
Hybrid polyureas are typically more rigid and have less elongation. As an RV roof expands and contracts through temperature changes, a more brittle material has less ability to flex and move with the roof—which can increase the risk of pulling away from the surface.
Even after extreme cold exposure, the FlexArmor sample remained flexible and bendable. That ability to stretch and give is one reason using the right polyurea matters, especially on an RV that is constantly moving, flexing, expanding, and contracting.
Not all sprayed RV roofs use the same type of polyurea. The chemistry matters.
