Team riders Taylor and Wyatt have been working with shaper Kim Purington for two decades each. Many of the shapes and models in our shop have been refined by their feedback. Both recently took their Chaos models out near Makapu`u. Mahalo Jenn Call for the captures.

Custom 6’3 Gordito

Stephen stopped by the shop to pick up his one-of-a-kind El Gordito with dove-tail swallow. If you can dream it, we can make it happen! Custom orders allow you to add your personal touch to the board, including airbrush. Doesn’t this board pop!

Custom orders are being taken now and will be fulfilled by Christmas. Stock, standard clear shortboards start at $715 and take 3-5 weeks. Custom choices like airbrush add a few dollars, and a few weeks, to that timeline.

Surf & Skate

A story of two board shops in Kailua Town. Straight Up started on Oneawa Street and then moved to its iconic Windward Boats location up until the mid 1990s. Just after closing its doors, 808 Skate opened its doors in 1995 on Ho’olai Street. 808 Skate moved into HIC for a moment and then into their now permanent Uluniu Street location. And a year go, Straight Up reopened its doors after 30 years as Nextdoor neighbors with 808 Skate.

Two core board shops that collectively served their surf and skate communities for 44 years.

Pau Hana Friday

Test pilot and co-owner Christian Mosher pushed of on a Friday afternoon in the Straight Up trucker hat and not released yet dri-fit longsleve sunshirt. Head High Shorebreaks

Yes, the sandbar was back. The sets were head high. The Mokapu Buoy was reading 13ft Cary. The boys were reminiscing about the 1990s sandbars that have been missed since Y2K. Some went Flags. Some went Greenwalls. This is team rider Taylor Cook at Pilipu.

Padded Day Bags - 50% Off

Our board bags have stood the test of time since we received them a year ago. They’ve been thrown in and out of the back of pickup trucks. Tossed on the rocks and sand at the beach. Shoved into a crowded garage and then yanked back out when the swell gets good.
