Patrick Riley shared with Carrie a cool YouTube video of Patrick racing the Nasty Nova he bought from Gary Skiles. The video is from 1973 and includes lots of other cool cars and faces from back in the day from several area tracks. Huge thank you to Patrick for sharing this video. It appears to be old 8mm or super 8mm film converted to video. So the quality isn't to today's standards, but fun to watch. Our first time out with Gary’s Nova this year. Enjoying a perfect evening at Heaton’s Hot Rod cruise night. More than 100 beautiful cars.

Well, it took much longer than we might have liked, but we were able to add a memorial stone to the tree planted at Rt 66 Raceway for Gary Skiles today. The tree was planted the year after Gary's passing to remember and honor all he meant to this track. It is located along the lake right in line with the tunnel to the dragstrip so Gary can view the racing.

We have to say a huge thank you to Collette and the staff at Rt 66 for helping us facilitate our adding this stone. The track is preparing for the annual NHRA National event in a couple of weeks. We really wanted it in place for this event. We really wish the track could one day return to its former glory, hosting a regular schedule of events.

It means a lot to Carrie and Jennie to have this memorial in place to honor their dad. Gary was an amazing man and a life long drag racer. He quit driving to take over as the Director of Drag Racing for Rt 66 to help make the track a great place for the local racers.

If you stop out for the NHRA event, make sure you stop by Gary's tree and memorial stone and remember this incredible man.

Ace drive in tonight for their weekly cruise night with Gary’s Nova. Beautiful warm night. Excellent food and refreshing home made root beer in a frosty mug.

Carrie Skiles Cooling and I along with our beautiful Gary’s Nova are at the Conrads Harley Davidson car show today. It’s on the frontage road in Shorewood Il. If you’re in the area, stop by and checkout some amazing cars and motorcycles. Cars are rolling in now for the 9:00 start.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Carrie and I will not have “Gary’s Nova” at the American Legion car show today.
