It’s the little things you don’t see that matter.

This is Nate cleaning corrosion from the wheel-to-hub mating surface on a BMW before the wheel goes back on.

Why take the extra time?

Rust and corrosion trapped between the wheel and hub can prevent the two surfaces from mating properly. Even when the lug bolts are torqued to specification, that corrosion can compromise proper wheel clamping as it shifts or breaks down over time.

That’s why whenever we remove a wheel at Protech, we clean the mating surfaces before reinstalling it, then properly torque the wheels to specification.

Does it take longer? Absolutely.

But it’s the right way to do the job.

Most customers will never see steps like this. We think they’re some of the most important ones.

We’re not doing something different. We’re doing it better.

A fault code tells you where to start. It doesn't always tell you what to replace.

This 2018 Volkswagen Golf came into Protech after the EPC light came on, followed by the Check Engine Light, and the vehicle went into limp mode.

Our testing led us to the turbocharger wastegate actuator. Nate commanded the actuator using our diagnostic equipment and found it wasn't responding. We then tested the electrical circuits, position sensor, wiring and computer command to verify the problem wasn't somewhere else in the system.

The diagnosis: a failed wastegate actuator. On this application, the actuator is integrated into the turbocharger, requiring replacement of the turbo assembly.

That's why proper diagnosis matters. Test first. Confirm the failure. Then make the repair.

Something a little special in the shop today!

This Bentley Continental 100th Anniversary Edition stopped in for a Rhode Island State Inspection and oil service. Under the hood is Bentley's W12 engine, which makes this one especially cool to have in the shop.

From everyday vehicles to something a little more exotic, you never know what's going to roll through the doors at Protech.

Definitely not a bad view in the service bay today!
