We see two common problems with pressure washers this time of year. First, the typical hard to start or poorly running condition of the gas engine due to a long period of storage with ethanol gasoline. To prevent this, use only ethanol free gasoline year round. Second, the pumps are cracked or otherwise damaged. When stored with water in the pump, freezing temperatures can cause the water to expand and crack the pump housing. Also, storage with hard water can cause calcification and other damage to the pump internal components. We recommend using Pump Saver or similar product to safely store the pressure washer. It only takes a couple minutes and helps ensure the washer is ready to go when you need it next.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen an increase in post-DIY repairs. If you’re mechanically inclined, you’ll find some mower repairs well within your ability. Take care, though, not to make the problem worse. In most cases, the post-DIY repair runs 2-3 times the cost of just bringing it to the shop to start. It makes the original problem harder to diagnose. Often, a fair amount of work is required just to get the mower back in shape to address the original failure.

We couldn't find a replacement wiring harness for the badly damaged wiring in this zero turn mower so we manually rebuilt it. Runs perfect now with all safety switches still in place!

Riding mowers can easily run $1,500 and up. The most expensive repairs are blown engines, bad transmissions and deterioration due to exposure/poor storage. In less than a year, exposure to sun, wind, rain, dust and rodents can cause $$$ damage. Pictured here is part of a wiring harness destroyed by rats/mice.

This spray rig came to us in pretty poor shape. It had been left out in the elements full of chemical for a while. The roller pump was locked down from rust, the spray tips deteriorated from U/V exposure and a few other problems. Once the repairs were finished, it ran just like new - good project! Please remember to empty spray rigs out before winter and store them under cover.

There's a lot of leaves out there in the Lubbock area right now! Don't break your back raking them up. We have lawn vacuums for rent - commercial Billy Goat and Troy Bilt with hose attachment. These both mulch up the leaves into a a much smaller footprint.

This Exmark 48" Lazer Z HP Zero-Turn Mower come in with a broken valve in the 20HP Kohler engine. The breather/separator was also out. We replaced the valve head, gasket, cover, breather/separator and breather hose. Runs like a champ now!

Just completely rebuilt this concrete power trowel. The original engine was made in the 1960s. We updated with a reconditioned Honda GCX, new clutch pulley, new belt and cables. Not sure if they'll get another 50 years of service out of it but who knows...
