“Off-road lifer breaks stereotypes in multi-states, Cameron Chin on Episode 309

Conversations with Big Rich welcomes fabricator, racer, and shop owner Cameron Chin—an off-road lifer who broke stereotypes to build a career around cars. Born and raised in Houston, Cameron cut his teeth on a rough ’67 Mustang, studied studio art at UT Austin, and dove headfirst into off-roading by co-founding the Longhorn Off-Road Club. After early shop experience and the dot-com bust, he launched Krawltex (2006), helping grow Texas’ wheeling scene with everything from bolt-ons to axle and engine swaps.

Cameron shares first desert race memories supporting a Hooters-backed team at the Baja 500, a white-knuckle Rally America win as a co-driver, and candid thoughts on King of the Hammers. A move to Las Vegas for his wife’s NICU career led to Nefarious Kustoms, where he expanded into high-end restomods and desert builds. Now back in Texas, Cameron juggles shops in Vegas, Austin, and the Houston area, focusing on frame-off Scouts, a tube-chassis LS-swapped Porsche Targa for his dad, classic Chevy and Camaro builds, and more—while nurturing his kids’ budding interest in motorsports. metalfab

What an epic journey we've had with this one. We were honored to have the opportunity to restore his grandfather's that we unveiled at the 2024 along with the family and our partners.
Nick and his family wanted "the REDest Red" we could find, an automatic transmission, and for it to be safe and comfortable. They trusted us with the rest! They spared no expense with this project, resulting in a beautiful and functional Jeep that will be enjoyed for the next 50 years and beyond!

A few projects from the past few weeks!

brought us his dad's Jeep Gladiator all the way from Florida 🍊 for some upgrades! It really meant a lot to our team! 🙌🏼
We went with the 3.5" Overland suspension system and 5100 shocks. The 35" Klever RTs and 705 Titanium wheels were a match made in heaven! That color combo!!! 👌🏼
With the added height, we installed a set of step sliders. 💪🏻

What a before and after!!! 😍
Daniel was excited to enhance the stance of his 2023 Bronco. The suspension was upgraded with a 4" kit from and we chose 285/75R18 Klever R/T tires. To make sure the Bronco would still buck with the 35" tires, we added a
Perfection! 🤌

Mike's Ram 3500 "Ranch Truck"! When doing ranch duties, the truck required added protection up front and beefier tires. We installed a front bumper and A/T4W tires. Perfection! 👏
