What is this pesky light that you keep seeing on the instrument cluster in your car? This is the Tire Pressure Monitoring System light or TPMS light. This light is telling you that one or more of your tires is low on air, or that an air pressure sensor in on of your tires has failed. With the rapid temperature changes in our area, we tend to ignore this light. Unless you are one of the few people that check the air pressure in your tires daily, this could be dangerous. A customer came in for an alignment because their car was pulling to the left. It turned out they only had 12 PSI in one of their tires. They told us that the TPMS light comes on all the time, and they just ignore it. Luckily, they brought it in before it became a catastrophic failure. So don’t ignore the light. If it is on in your car, come by and let one of our certified technicians perform a complimentary air pressure check.

As fuel prices rise, we start getting calls about fuel mileage. The question is what can I do to get better mileage? The most obvious answer and I’ll say this in the nicest possible way. Maintain your vehicle. Simply put a well-maintained vehicle will get better mileage than on that is not. Because if your vehicle is current on its maintenance that means, the injectors are clean, the spark plugs are good, the fuel and air filters are not restricted, tires are at proper pressure alignment is current etc. This is where all that money you have invested up front pays off. If your behind on your maintenance, then let’s catch up. Why wait until your fuel mileage drops?

Wednesday morning when I arrived at the shop, I had several missed calls from a regular customer. I had arrived an hour early to catch up on a couple of things. When I called her back, she had been in an accident. After asking if she was ok, I tried to explain that I did not do Body work and she started crying. I told her to tow it in and we would work it out. She only has liability so no insurance company. After the vehicle got towed in, she needed a ride home. Then I got the low down she was driving home from work (she works at night) and while making a turn decided to check at a text message on her phone. She oversteered and hit a tree. She said everyone says don’t text and drive, but it had never been a problem before. This time she hit a tree. I think she learned her lesson. The car looks to be totaled. That seems to be all it cost her. She is lucky that she did not get hurt. So please Don’t TEXT AND DRIVE.
